Groundbreaking White Paper on Behavioral Health Equity in California Published in Journal of Hospital Management and Health Policy
CAADPE is proud to announce the publication of “Enhancing Access to Behavioral Health Services for Groups That Have Been Historically Marginalized in California: Executives’ Views and Recommendations” in a leading peer-reviewed journal. The paper is a product of the HEAR US initiative— a statewide project funded by the California DHCS and managed by The Center at Sierra Health Foundation. HEAR US aims to implement actionable strategies that improve access to and equity of care for underserved communities experiencing severe mental illness, serious emotional disturbances, and substance use disorders (SUD).

AB 1267: Consolidated Licensing and Certification
The California Association of Alcohol and Drug Program Executives (CAADPE) is the sponsor for AB 1267, which addresses the current fragmented licensing structure for SUD treatment providers. The bill establishes a more efficient, consolidated license and certification process that allows providers to operate multiple facilities and programs under a single license and certification when they are located in the same geographic area.
HEAR US Project White Paper Published
In this paper we describe the organizing, facilitating, and documenting of constituency-focused generative listening sessions and focus groups with executive leaders of drug and alcohol programs in California. The information obtained helped identify opportunities to expand the definition of behavioral health recovery services and address future needs at the system and service delivery levels statewide.

Providers Across California Offer Pro-Bono Therapy Sessions for First Responders and Fire Victims of the Los Angeles Fires
In the wake of the devastating Los Angeles fires, mental health and substance use disorder treatment providers across California are stepping up to support first responders and individuals directly impacted by this tragedy. Through an unprecedented collaborative effort, CA providers are offering pro-bono therapy sessions to help those affected process trauma, rebuild resilience, and recover from the emotional toll of the fires. CAADPE member, Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol & Drug Abuse (L.A. CADA), has suffered significant damage from the fires.
