CAADPE-Hosted Webinar Highlights the Treatment Efficacy of Contingency Management
Covid-19 has exacerbated the impact of substance use disorders in California, resulting in a 49.9% increase in drug overdose deaths in the 12-months ending January 2021. Contingency Management is being used by many providers to benefit patients suffering from SUD, and is the only intervention that has proven effective for stimulant use disorder.
In a webinar hosted by CAADPE on September 29th, Dr. Yuri Maricich, Chief Medical Officer, PEAR Therapeutics, facilitated a discussion on the use of Prescription Digital Therapeutics (PDTs) as a pathway for delivering Contingency Management services. He presented data showing that CM has a broad evidence base in stimulant and opioid use disorder, not only in randomized clinical trials, but also in real world outcomes. He noted that patients who were treated with CM delivered via digital platforms had higher rates of abstinence and treatment adherence, and lower rates of hospital utilization.
Impact of COVID-19 on Alcohol Consumption, Demand, and Access to Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Services
October 2020: This webinar offered an overview of how the COVID-19 public health emergency has led to a rise in individuals consuming alcohol as outlined in an RTI International survey, and what Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. has observed in changes in demand for and access to substance use disorder treatment (SUD).
CAADPE extends a special thank you to our guest speakers Dr. Alexander Cowell and William Dowd from RTI International, and Dr. Jose Salazar from Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. for joining us and sharing their valuable insights.
